Horns and sexiness...Come catch us this spring or summer! Dancing is good for the soul!!! And MUSIC IS MEDICINE!
Wow, what a fantastic summer, The GravesTones played so many wonderful shows all over Michigan for such great audiences in a variety of indoor and outdoor venues! We are always grateful for such supportive crowds, seeing so many people enjoying the music we love performing is definitely a huge motivator to keep bringing you the funk and soul!
The "Shows" page has been updated with new Fall dates, so feel free to catch us as things start to cool off. We also have new music coming your way that we are excited to debut soon! Some of you may have heard some of this new music during our summer shows.
More news will be coming your way, and more updates will work there way to this page. If you want to always be up-to-date, in addition to this website you can visit our Facebook page. Come out tonight to catch our final show of the summer at Vandermill GR, we'll see you there!
Our next big show is with Eric Engblade's Trio for his album release event at Founder's Brewing Company! The GravesTones are excited to return to such a great Grand Rapids venue, it's going to be a highlight of the summer for us!
We hope to see you there!
First of all, thanks to all who came out to another great night at Billy's Lounge this past Friday! The GravesTones rocked the house, this time joined by our friends in Melophobix, who opened up strong and get the funk rolling! Feel free to click here to see some photos of that night!
This week, The GravesTones journey up north to play a Friday show at Gray's Furniture (Mt. Pleasant) and Saturday show at Shorts Brewing Company (Bellaire). Check our shows page for details, looking forward to seeing you all there!
Thanks so much to everyone who came out to the Speak EZ last night! Megan Dooley's Trio opened the show in style and The GravesTones closed the night with a bang! We are all grateful for the work Local Spins, headed by John Sinkevics, has done for the West Michigan music community, and to celebrate 4 years of Local Spins is amazing!
Hannah Rose Graves has known John Sinkevics for years, and he even helped debut her on the radio! Sinkevics also has covered every member in The GravesTones, whether it was including our keyboard player, Dutcher Snedeker, in the early stages of Local Spins Wednesdays at the Speak EZ or covering Eric Engblade's shows that include our guitarist (Justin Wierenga) and bassist (Justin Avdek). It's great to have such a supportive music community, and we look forward to playing more shows in 2016 that bring folks together!
We hope to see a lot of you at Billy's Lounge tonight! The event starts at 6:30 pm, and The GravesTones take the stage at 9 PM. We will be performing alongside local acts Hank Mowery and Jimmy Stagger, all supporting headliner Larry McCray! It's a great time to support WGVU as they continue to support blues across Michigan that attracts so many Midwest acts!
We had a great week this week for the band! After our great Speak EZ show on April 2nd, we took that energy and hit the studio at Amber Lit Audio! It was great to work with Matt Ten Clay again on some new tunes!
Crazy enough, the power went out on the whole street during one of our takes! Luckily, progress made up until that point was saved, and we will be setting up another studio session soon to get some more recordings in.
Then, last night on WGVU's Saturday Night Blues Hour, we joined host Greg Bluben for an hour of local, live blues to promote the Local Blues Matters fundraising event at Billy's Lounge next week on April 16th! We are joining some great local groups (Hank Mowery, Jimmy Stagger) to provide some great blues leading up to the headliner, Larry McCray! The tunes featured on the broadcast including a trio version of "The Otherside" off our album a new tune created on the spot (dedicated to Rockford resident Jenna Hansen), and a version of "Pack Up and Leave" performed by Hannah Rose, Justin Wierenga (guitar), and Dutcher Snedeker (melodica).
We'll have the links/content posted to the site soon from the session as soon as it's made available. Thanks for everybody who tuned in and for everyone who supports the local music scene in West Michigan!
